This is a stunningly elegant short hairstyle which is not only elegant, but also very low-maintenance. The thing I love about it is its flexibility. It’s long enough at the front that it can be worn sideways or in a pompadour waving, or with no fashion whatsoever. It is extremely appealing to guests due to many reasons.
Which products would you suggest to create and keep this style?
I strive to adhere to the notion that the majority of styles can be achieved by using just three products. For this particular look I utilized Kenra Blow Dry Spray. This spray helps guard against extreme heat and cut drying time to half. The spray also leaves hair looking shiny and easily manageable. The other product I used to achieve this style can be found in Moroccanoil Light. I applied this to ensure that hair of the client would not just feel silky however, it also helped heal her hair that was lightened both from inside and out. The final product I employed was the Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray. It is my absolute favorite of products for texture. It’s not too heavy, and it creates beautiful texture in hair and smells amazing!
What kind of person would this style work best for?
This style is stunning on a variety of clients. My main goal as stylist is to allow every guest to be the most confident person they can be and to be the best version of themselves, every time. This is all style demands. Confidence! It doesn’t matter the type of hair you have, facial shape or skin tone, nor does it matter what your lifestyle.

Smokey Pastel Colors
Interview with Style Creator Elissa Wolfe
Hairstylist @ Axis Hair Salons in Vancouver, BC
What would you say about this style and what’s the most appealing thing about it?
This is a beautiful smokey pastel with an oversized Pixie. I love this style because of the motion in the color as well as the layers that are longer above. I believe this is one of the most versatile styles cut that a shorter crop could be and also have fun colors too!
What products do you suggest to help you create and maintain this style?
I utilized Joico Metallics for the pastels. However, any dye that is a direct or semi-permanent color that is mixed with conditioner will work! I suggest a volumizer prior to blow drying for motion and a texturizer afterwards to ruin the layers after they are dry.
What kind of person would this style work best for?
Hair of medium to fine density is perfect in this haircut! All skin tones can be paired with these colors due to the metallic undertone of the pastels. They are suitable for any skin tone! I believe this cut requires a strong personality in order to achieve the impact that the cut and the color create. It’s fun , but also professional. Therefore, anyone can pull it off whether at school, at work or any other place!
What’s your top tip for someone considering this style?
I would suggest conducting an experiment with hair strands prior to creating pastels because they require lots of lightening before. A clean, straight blonde base is ideal for these pastels! If you’re looking to get chopped hair, ensure that you choose the most versatile style. Make sure you keep length at the front and the top to provide plenty of hairstyle options.
Edgy Messy Pixie Cut
Q&A with the Style Creator Jennifer Giancaterino
Hairstylist @ Renaissance Salon in St.Catharines, Ontario
What do you think of this look ? What’s the most appealing thing about it?
This style is extremely edgy and fun. There’s a lot of texture in this cut , which creates a more bouncy and an exciting look. The thing I love with this style is the fact that it is a lot of versatility in the styling. It is possible to achieve a smooth style or a more rough and full-bodied appearance. Another advantage of this style is that you can choose from a range of shades to make it even more unique.
What products do you suggest to create and sustain this style?
In this style it is necessary to apply pomades or any other kind of paste to enhance the texture of the appearance. In our salon, we create our own products, which we call Acina. First I tried the product Flexy which is an ingredient that creates density and gloss. The other product I tried is a pomade named Rough from Ancina Then I added Supershine hairsprays from Oribe to hold the style on the right track.
Who is the type of person this style work best for?
This kind of style will be ideal for anyone attracted to being imaginative in their haircut. All skin tones are suitable for this cut , as it is able to be in line with their skin tone. This lady has finer hair however, when you cut hair with finer texture shorter, it makes the hair to appear more dense and larger. Being creative is a good thing in this style since it’s fun and stylish.
